Traditional big government politicians have trouble associating revenue with expenses, which is why we face an $11+ billion budget deficit and ever increasing levels of debt. To repair our State’s balance sheet, we need to reduce our State government to its core functions, determining which departments, agencies, and programs are appropriate and effective at serving the general public, and which are effective at serving only special interest groups.

Illinois taxpayers are paying for too much government. Spending and activity must be reviewed and rationalized, department by department, with budgets slashed in those areas which do not serve the general public both effectively and efficiently, or which are beyond the limits imposed by the state Constitution. Functions that fall outside of the defined scope of the state government will be delegated to the appropriate county or city governments, or will be discarded entirely. Waste created by bloated bureaucracies must be shed from the system.
